How Stylitics is solving your (Mine) customers' checkout fears
The saying usually goes: Life's short, just buy the shoes.
As a twenty-six-year-old single woman living in New York City, the most important question I ask myself from time to time is: What will I wear this weekend? And yes, I am here to admit I plan my Instagram posts on what recent outfit I bought. Some people play pickleball, knit, and join running clubs; I like to scroll and shop online for hours. No, you can’t see my screen time.
Outfit inspiration usually starts with scrolling through TikTok for inspiration, ripping my closet apart, and scrolling on Pinterest for celebrity outfit inspiration. Then, I typically scream, give up, and put together something last minute.
The truth is, we live in a digital age where we post every outfit we wear and usually don’t wear things more than twice. However, many consumers are facing two issues when deciding where to shop and what to order: trying to be environmentally conscious consumers and the cost of living crisis.
Like many other online shoppers, I constantly abandon my cart after I ask myself: Do I really need this, and can I really afford this article of clothing right now? Usually, it’s a big no, but a girl like me has her priorities. I am proud of having a closet that I can pick and choose from and take pride in my outfits like the average consumer living in a big city.
When I decide to indulge myself more often than I should, I always seek convenience and outfit inspiration. I want to know that the outfit I buy can be worn in multiple ways and match other things in my closet. Because I am always looking for convenience (Hello, I am Gen Z), I want to find matching sets that I can wear multiple ways, a purse that can match, and recommendations online that are tailored to ME.
When people ask me where I buy things, my most common answer is Revolve. This is because of the Inspirational Commerce and Outfit Recommendations that Revolve builds with Stylitics.
In June, I am going to my cousin's baby shower, so of course, I first went to Revolve because of their matching sets shop and dress category for special occasions. Because I want to buy something I can have in my closet and mix and match with other pieces, and because I have been looking for a pantsuit forever, a Lovers and Friends set caught my eye. The pantsuit will cost 456 dollars before tax and shipping, which, yes, is kind of steep.
So, it’s time for me to do some Girl Math using Stylitics outfits to help me pick a bundle and not feel like I will never be able to buy a house when I checkout.
I am dead set on the pants that are 198 dollars. Looking at the outfits, I already think I can wear these to the office with a nice blouse, on a night out for cocktails with a nice crop top, and to my cousin’s baby shower if I pick the Camila Coelho top for 90 dollars. I also own a nice cream blazer I bought a year before that can pair well. I added the Lovers and Friends blazer to my like history to save for later because sometimes I split big purchases into two when I feel like having both pieces would look great in my closet.
Outfit total, just the pants and the Camila Coelho top: 288 dollars.
The hoops are great and are only 20 dollars. I have been looking for some lovely gold hoops I can wear with a slick-backed bun or high pony to go out, so I also added those to the cart. I am good on shoes for now, but I want to check out the top I am buying for some outfit inspiration to get a bang for my buck.
Who said that online shopping isn’t a science? Because I’d like to compare my online shopping skills to probably the rush men feel when they submit a parlay on the Super Bowl.
When I get to the crop top PDP page, I see more outfits for inspiration. I now know that if I buy this top on sale, I can wear it with denim, trousers, pants, and a skirt. I know I have some of these items in my closet, but because I am trying to stay on track with just buying an outfit for the baby shower I add the top to my cart.
The outfit total, including the hoops, comes to 308 dollars for three pieces.
I can wear every item in my cart multiple times and in multiple ways, and the outfit inspirations I was shown on Revolve already have my creative juices flowing for when they arrive.
I go to checkout and don’t feel guilty about the 308 dollars because I know the return on investment in my closet is priceless. I also feel like I saved money from buying two pieces, came to a total of 456 dollars, and got three more versatile items that I’ll get more wear out of at the price of 308.
Every young consumer should feel confident and not dread when they shop using Inspirational Commerce from Stylitics. They should feel confident that they are making intelligent decisions with their outfits and using the Visual Styling tool on company websites like Revolve, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ganni, Nike, and more.
These tools help people visualize what they already have, what they need, and how to wear it when they can’t think of something off the top of their heads.
